CFL spiral substitute for "incandescent B" basis?
I have a ceiling fan that calls for 2 x 40 watt "B" bulbs. I know that bulbs "B" decorative light bulbs, the elongated bulb-shaped flame used in chandeliers. 2 X 40 W bulbs, either incandescent or CFLs are simply not bright enough for the room. The lamp is not fully closed, the lights are covered with a dome, but bad law until the lamp. I know I can use CFL bulbs equal to 40 W or higher due to the lower power of the CFL. Therefore, I use CFLs that are equivalent to 100 light bulbs, the power of each would be 23 W, I know I'm good there. The problem is that the CFL in the form of "B" are not available in anything more than 40 W. There is a problem with the use of spiral CFL even thought the machine calls "B" bulbs.
Many ceiling fans have a regulator for the lights, which is not compatible with fluorescent lamps, CFL or otherwise. You will have incandescent bulbs for use with a regulator. But if you have only a light switch on-off, you should be able to use CFL bulbs as the power rating is not exceeded.
